PERSONALITY: Fou-Lu is a quiet, thoughtful person, with a strong air of majesty and grace, that sometimes gets him into trouble whether he’s looking for it or not. Essentially a split in personality from Ryu, Fou-Lu can be cold, unfriendly, and downright violent at times. He doesn’t make friends easily, but those he does become friends with, he holds in high regard. Things such as justice, helping the weak, or saving the day are the providence of heroes, and Fou-Lu is not a hero.

Traumatic betrayals in his past have given Fou-Lu an innate distrust of people and their ‘word’. He also seems to carry a heavy burden in the form of any responsibility, taking other people’s problems onto himself, to make up for something, a feeling of regret he’s never been able to put words to. Perhaps, subconsciously, he wants to be more like the heroes of his world, though he’d be too proud to admit to something like that.

If one were to break past this emotional cold front, however, they would find that like any other person, Fou-Lu needs the security that trusted friends provide. Right now, he has no-one to trust. A man, crawling through the desert, desperate for a drink.

Fou-Lu is very outspoken, however, when something is rubbing him the wrong way, either emotionally or philosophically. At these points, he’s most likely to respond physically, sometimes violently. For the most part, though, Fou-Lu is a cold, standoffish person. In his relaxation time, Fou-Lu can be found fishing in any body of water he can drop a line into.

TIMELINE: After the events of Breath of Fire IV.

BACKGROUND: Endless. Timeless. Immortal. Powerful. A God.

Fou-Lu is one of the immortal, terribly powerful Endless, summoned by the people of the Muruu Empire. Due to mistakes in their summoning technique, this particular Endless was split into two bodies, one being was Fou-Lu, who would be born into the world in the present, during the waning years of the Muruu. The other was Ryu, who would be born in the future, six-hundred years in the future, to be precise. After his birth, Fou-Lu used his unmatched strength to unify his land, creating an empire he called the Fou Empire. Afterwards, he passed the prophecy of his return to the next Emperor, extracting as promise that that man's family would relinquish the throne, and settled into his tomb to sleep for the next six centuries, awaiting the birth of his other half, Ryu.

When Ryu was born into the world of mortals, Fou-Lu was destined to awaken once more. After awakening, he proclaims his acension to his previous position of power over the Fou Empire. In this newly awakened, vulnerable state, however, he is attacked by a General of the modern Fou army, under orders from the currant Emperor, Soniel, and defeated. Leaving his loyal, wolf-like servant Won-Qu at the tomb, he leaped into a stream, and passed out. Later, he awakened in the hut of a hermit named Bunyan, who had been taking care of him. It turned out that he had been followed by the General, though, who attacked once more as soon as Fou-Lu left Bunyan's care!

Fleeing for his life, he wound up in the village of Sonne, where he collapsed. Taken in and cared for by a simple village woman named Mami, Fou-lu began to empathize with the humans he had so often looked down upon, seeing them as the distinct and varied people that they were. Unfortunately, the General continued to hunt Fou-Lu, so instead of putting Mami and the village in harm's way, the Emperor began to run once more. The General had Mami taken to the Carronade, however, due to her connection to Fou-Lu, and used her as a human sacrifice to power the unstable destructive blast of the weapon! Dazed, weakened, and at a loss for the wrenching feeling in his stomach at the demise of the woman, Fou-Lu found the bells she had worn, and lost his hopes for the mortals of his world.

Arriving in the capital of the Fou Empire, Chedo, Fou-Lu was reunited with another of his royal servants. A-Tur was another wolf creature, and powerful in his own right. Fou-Lu commanded him to lay waste to the capital, while he progressed deeper into the castle. As he ascended the steps to the royal throne, however, his midsection was pierced by the Dragon Slayer, a legendary sword with the power to kill the Endless. This wouldn't stop Fou-Lu, deeply lost to a grief-borne madness, who simply pulled the sword free, and used it's keen edge to sever the Emperor's head from his shoulders. Taking his rightful place as Emperor, Fou-Lu layed the sword across his lap, and waited for Ryu, his other half, to arrive and complete their union.

Ryu came to the castle, personally confronted Fou-Lu, questioning his motivation to destroy humanity after they have done so much for him in the past, recalling his time with Bunyan and Mami. After an intense battle, Fou-Lu came to his senses and merged with Ryu, forming a powerful being, a complete Endless.

With the remaining Dragon Gods of the world deciding to now leave life in humanity's hands, they remove their presence from the planet.

Dragon Transformations

Astral - Allows Fou-Lu to transform into a Hybrid draconic form!

"The Astral Form is a Hybrid form, resembling Fou-Lu, with draconic traits. In particular, this form possesses large, taloned feet, clawed hands, flight-capable dragon wings, and horns that curl around Fou-Lu's head, nearly meeting in the middle, like a tiara. Fou-Lu's scales are deep blue in this form."

Serpent / Peist - Allows Fou-Lu to transform into an Ice-Elemental draconic form!

"The Serpent / Peist Form is a Water-Elemental form, resembling a classic wyvern in many ways. It does not have seperate arms from it's wings, the appendages being one and the same. It also has powerful lower legs, a whiplike tail, two sharp horns jutting down from it's lower jaw, and a large crest over it's head. This dragon is coloured a lighter blue than the Astral form, with a dusty yellow underbelly."

Behemoth / Mammoth - Allows Fou-Lu to transform into an Earth-Elemental draconic form!

"The Behemoth / Mammoth Form is an Earth Elemental form, almost resembling an elephant rather than a dragon. It's huge, low-slung body is held up by four thick, powerful legs. Four humongous horns jut from it's body, and while it has a huge mouth, there is no neck. Some legends claim that this form is mostly stomach, able to consume entire cities!"

Tyrant - Allows Fou-Lu to transform into an evolved draconic form with superior abilities!

"The Tyrant Form is Fou-Lu's most powerful draconic form. It resembles the classic Western Dragon in it's size, and ferocious appearance. This dragon is a dusky black colour, with bright red highlights, a majestic yet sinister bearing, and a tail that splits near the tip into two. From it's large 'wings' sprout eight more 'feathers' of energy, capable of keeping the dragon aloft with minimal effort. Its power is terrifying."

Infini - The ultimate draconic form! Capable of destroying entire worlds.. Requires a complete Endless to unleash.
